Our Story

A Legacy of Excellence Since 1985

Solid State High School was founded in 1985 with a vision to provide world-class education to the youth of Malta. Located in the vibrant town of Birkirkara, our institution has grown from a modest beginning with just 120 students to become one of Malta's most prestigious secondary schools, serving over 850 students today.

Our founders, Dr. Anthony Farrugia and Mrs. Elena Vella, believed that education should prepare students not just for examinations, but for life itself. This philosophy continues to guide us today, as we combine rigorous academic standards with character development, critical thinking, and real-world skills.

Over the past four decades, we have produced thousands of successful graduates who have gone on to excel in universities and careers around the world, bringing honor to Malta and making meaningful contributions to society.

Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, 25 years of experience in education. Joined SSHS in 2015.

Mrs. Sarah Agius

Deputy Principal - Academics

M.Ed. in Curriculum Development, specialist in STEM education. With SSHS since 2010.

Mr. David Zammit

Deputy Principal - Student Affairs

M.A. in Educational Psychology, focused on student wellbeing. Joined SSHS in 2012.
